What will be covered?
An interactive learning session for charity trustees who want play an effective and influential role.
This session will help you:
Clarify the regulatory and legal aspects of your role
Support your charity to make good decisions
Manage and assess the risks faced by your charity
This will be a mixture of practical learning, sign posting and group work designed to support you being a valued trustee.
Trustees are essential to making a charity effective, taking up a voluntary role as a trustee can be a rewarding experience, but do you really know what your duties and responsibilities are? Maybe you are new trustee, considering becoming a trustee or been in the role for a while, this course will help you confidently carry out your duties whatever the size or nature of the organisation is.
By the end of the day you will have gained insight to help you:
Understand how your charity is regulated, what the rules and boundaries are.
Apply yourself to ensuring the charity is doing what it should be, such as keeping people safe and complying with legislation.
Bring your own strengths to the role.

Kathy Shaw – Senior Development Officer at Hunts Forum
Kathy has worked for over 30 years in the private, statutory and voluntary sector, as an accountant, grants fundraiser and community engagement worker. Having worked at Huntingdonshire District Council, she’s pleased to be working back in the district and is passionate about supporting a thriving community and voluntary sector with the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
Sallyann Hilliard – Development Officer at Hunts Forum
Sallyann role is primarily to provide advice and support and develop resources for members of Hunts Forum. Sallyann has over 20 years of experience working within the voluntary sector and local authorities. She has been the childcare voluntary sector representative for partnership board meetings and is experienced in offering advice and support to charitable community groups. She has more recently been a development manager with responsibility for income generating and the development of new services. Sallyann is proud to have started her career as a volunteer within the childcare sector and has held various volunteer positions over the years, primarily within local junior sports clubs. Sallyann is looking forward to working within the community again
