Changes coming to City Council community facilities - 06/01/2017
Cambridge City Council have conducted an extensive and very thorough review of the community facilities across the City and this was reported and discussed at the council meeting of the 19th January.
It is very clear that the council want to concentrate their work on areas that show higher levels of deprivation whilst at the same time looking at how they work in partnership to ensure that the right facilities are in the right places. There will no doubt be issues about how new provision can be provided and there will inevitably be some changes that may not be popular. The official press release for this can be found here. We have also copied the section of the meeting papers that includes the appendix which details the draft strategy here.
There will, I am sure, be opportunities for organisations and individuals to comment on proposals and it is important that you make your views known. This strategy will steer the way in which community facilities are provided and services are offered for the future. City resident are lucky to have such a wide variety of community spaces and it is important that we help the Council to provide what is needed where it is needed.
