Celebrating Volunteers in 2019
Our distinguished volunteer guests were joined by the Mayor of Cambridge and Mrs Judy Pearson, the Deputy Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire, as well as the Branch Manager and other John Lewis partners and CCVS trustees and staff.
We all enjoyed delicious nibbles and glasses of fizz while volunteers were able to meet each other and share their stories and experiences.
Volunteers came along from over 38 local organisations. They are involved as trustees, advisors, counsellors, fundraisers, befrienders as well as a host of other roles. They came from organisations both large and small – from small neighbourhood groups, allotment societies and social clubs to some of the county’s largest charities. All providing vital services and support, enriching communities and enhancing lives.
Tony Barnfield from Cambridge 105 Radio was on hand to record interviews with volunteers that captured some of their unique stories and you can hear his podcast ‘A Celebration of Volunteering’ here.
We asked all the volunteers at our event to answer three questions:
Why did you start volunteering?
How do we get more people into volunteering?
Why do you keep volunteering?
